Obituary

JAMES T. (JIM) BRIDGES, age 81, of Piqua, passed away at 3:05 P.M. on Thursday June 29, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 16, 1936 in Manchester, OH to the late Taylor C. and Goldie (Gregory) Bridges. He married Mary A. Ode February 6, 1965 in West Union, OH. She survives.

He is survived by five children: Irene & Greg St. Clair, Caledonia, MI, Roger Bridges & Anita Napier, Piqua, Kenny & Diana Bridges, Piqua, Nancy & Bryan Ferryman, Piqua, Peggy & Tim Anderson, Lake City, FL, two sisters: Violet Ode, Newark, OH, Ruby Bridges, Newark, OH, fourteen grandchildren: Maranda Hina, Tiffany Worley, Ashlee Knisley, Travis Ferryman, Brooke Edwards, Courtney Ferryman, Mikayla Ferryman, Corbin Ferryman, Jolene Bridges, Tabitha Varney, Nicole Varney, Emily Kerrigan, Mia Anderson, and Tyler Anderson. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

James graduated from Manchester High School in 1953. He was a member of Piqua Apostolic Church. He worked at Hartzell Propeller for 30 yrs., retiring in 2001. He served our Country in the U.S. Army from 1954 – 1958. One of James favorite past times after retiring was cheering on his Reds Ball Team even when they were losing. He loved the outdoors and taking walks with his wife. He will be greatly missed by his kids and grandkids. They were the apple of his eye.

Funeral services will be held Monday July 3, 2017 at 1:30 P.M.  at Piqua Apostolic Church 830 Covington Ave. Piqua with Rev. Greg Simmons and Rev. Nelson Elifritz co-officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington with full military honors presented by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Calling hours will be Monday from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M at the church.
