Obituary

JAMES I. SMITH, age 76, of Sidney, formerly of Fort Recovery, OH passed away Wednesday June 7, 2017at 9:10 P.M. at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, Sidney. He was born June 18, 1940 in Pikeville, KY to the late Virgil and Estee (Hatfield) Smith. He married Patricia A. (Brush) Smith April 9, 1958 in Piqua, OH. She preceded him in death October 8, 2016.

He is survived by one daughter & son-in-law: Sheri & Kevin Richey, Troy, OH, two sons & daughter-in-law: Steve & Tammy Smith, Sidney, OH, Jim Smith, Jr., Piqua, OH, three brothers: Stewart “Red” Smith, Jay County, IN, Fred Smith, Salmonia, IN, Ervin Smith, Troy, OH, one sister: Madge Helvey, Pikeville, KY, eleven grandchildren: Lindsay, Emily, Taylor, Sarah, Kristian, Cori, Alicen, Brittani, Deron, Hannah, Caleb, and seven great-grandchildren. One son: Patrick A. Smith preceded him in death.

James worked for Kimberly-Clark in Troy for over 10 years, where he retired.

Funeral services will be held Saturday June 10, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME, Piqua with the Pastor Dennie Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, OH. Calling hours will be Saturday from 11AM – 1 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Living Dorothy Love 3003 Cisco Rd. Sidney, OH 45365.
